The Trent Woods Police Department was organized in September 1972, under the direction of the Craven County Sheriff's Department, and was funded by the NC Governor's Commission on Law and Order at virtually no expense to the Town. Law enforcement officers changed from Craven County Sheriff's Deputies to Trent Woods Police Officers on September 1, 1977.

Much has changed since the department was created. With specialized training and equipment, the department now consists of seven officers who provide a wide range of police services to the community.

Chief of Police: Tony W. Lee

Fire Department
Fire services in the Town are provided by the West of New Bern Volunteer Fire Department (WNBVFD). The department serves the West of New Bern area including all of Trent Woods. The fire department non-emergency number is (252) 638-1119. Because West New Bern Volunteer Fire Department is a volunteer organization, the fire department does not have personnel at their building full-time. If you have a need that is non emergency Town Clerk Holly Willis can accept or relay any packages, donations or messages.
Current Fire Chief:  Brad Banks
Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors
The fire department is happy to come to your home and test your smoke detectors.  If needed, they will either replace batteries or replace the entire smoke detector. Dual smoke/carbon monoxide detectors can also be tested and replaced if necessary although due to the expense homeowners are asked to purchase their own equipment.
Room Reservation
The Fire Department does allow for the use of the department's large third floor room.  However, you would need to contact a member of the fire department regarding its use.
For more information visit the WNBVFD website.
